JAKARTA - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka responded to the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) code which seemed to want to support him as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

This code was conveyed by PSI Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Grace Natalie in the National Land Coffee (Kopdarnas) tonight. PSI wants the Constitutional Court (MK) to grant a judicial review which changes the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates to a minimum of 35 years.

This response was conveyed by Gibran after the Kopdarnas event. Gibran joked, if he became a vice presidential candidate, it was feared that no one would choose him.

"Soon no one will choose. Mas Giring (Chairman of PSI) alone is more suitable," said Gibran after attending the PSI Kopdarnas at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 22.

Regarding the process of judicial review of the presidential and vice presidential age limit, Gibran was reluctant to comment on his views. According to him, all parties only need to wait for the judicial review decision.

"Yes, we'll just wait for the decision from the judicial review," said Gibran.

PSI Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees Grace Natalie previously expressed her party's hope that the Constitutional Court (MK) would grant a judicial review of the Election Law regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.

PSI submitted a judicial review with case number 29/PUU-XXI/2023. PSI in its petitum requested that the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates for 40 years be changed to 35 years.

Grace said that the results of this decision will be the basis for consideration of PSI's support, especially for the vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

"We ask that the determination of the presidential candidate from PSI be taken seriously considering the factors for who the vice presidential candidate will be. It is necessary to pay close attention to all political dynamics including the judicial review process to the Constitutional Court regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates which is being proposed by LBH PSI at the Constitutional Court," said Grace.

According to Grace, if the Constitutional Court grants their lawsuit and the vice presidential candidate is at least 35 years old, PSI will support the young figure.

"If the Constitutional Court grants the PSI LBH Material Test and there are candidates, young people aged at least 35 years who have the capacity and capacity as vice presidential candidates, then the PSI DPP should provide support to the vice presidential candidate," explained Grace.

Grace's statement seemed to signal that the party bearing the rose flower symbol wanted Gibran to be carried as vice presidential candidate. Grace also mentioned that the eldest son of President Joko Widodo is the most prominent regional head today.
