JAKARTA - The electability of West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil as a vice presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) continues to accelerate.
His name is now in the first position as a result of the Kompas Research and Development survey published on Tuesday, August 22.
The survey noted that Ridwan Kamil competed with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir. All three competed at 8 percent.
In detail, Ridwan Kamil has an electability of 8.4 percent; Sandiaga with an electability of 8.2 percent; and Erick Thohir whose electability reaches 8 percent.
"Now Ridwan Kamil is in the top position," said Litbang Kompas researcher Bambang Setiawan, Tuesday, August 22.
This condition, called Bambang, reflects the dynamics regarding the vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Especially after the Golkar Party and the National Mandate Party (PAN) joined the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) which supported Prabowo Subianto.
According to Bambang, now Prabowo has two names that can be cooperated with as vice presidential candidates, namely Ridwan Kamil as deputy chairman of the Golkar Party and Erick Thohir voters who have recently been offered by PAN to become vice presidential candidates.
"With the entry of PAN which is known to offer Erick as Prabowo's vice presidential candidate and also Golkar's entry, it is very likely to change the constellation of support for the presidential candidates, including Erick and Ridwan Kamil," he said.
