Police Arrest Illegal Mode Thief Access To Expeditionary Services: 28 Times In Action, Lose IDR 337 Million

Polda Metro Jaya arrested a woman with the initials RFP alias Anggi (20), a perpetrator of theft of electronic goods with the illegal mode of access to an expedition service company Shopee Express.

Anggi is said to have acted dozens of times and caused hundreds of millions of losses.

"Arrested the suspect in the alleged criminal act of accessing and/or alleged theft," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak in his statement, Tuesday, August 22.

In every action, Anggi uses the mode of pretending to be an employee of one of the merchant companies. He contacted the expedition company and asked for reports on the resi of buying and selling cellphones and other electronic goods.

"The suspect claimed to be an employee of PT. Erajaya (a merchant in the online marketplace), then asked for a report on the resi of selling cellphones to the resi operator at the expedition company," he said.

Armed with the resi, Anggi ordered an online motorcycle taxi to take the items listed on the resi number

"The suspect managed to retrieve 28 units of customer's cellphone before reaching the owner," he said.

With this mode, Anggi can take 28 electronic items, such as the iPhone 14 Pro, MacBook, and iPad. The total loss caused reached IDR 337 million.

"The suspect managed to get the goods worth Rp. 337,458,000," said Ade.

The arrest of Anggi was based on a report registered with the number LP/B/2979/V/2023/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated May 29, 2023.

In this case, Anggi is suspected of Article 30 in conjunction with Article 46 and/or Article 32 in conjunction with Article 48 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE and/or alleged theft as referred to in Article 362 of the Criminal Code.
