In AMMTC, The National Police Chief Hopes There Will Be An Agreement On TIP, Terrorism, And Arms Smuggling

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo hopes that state delegates who participate in the activities of the 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting On Transnational Crime (AMMTC) will agree on a draft declaration of countering criminal acts of terrorism to trafficking in persons.

Originally, there were 10 ASEAN countries involved in these activities, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Then, 3 countries of dialogue and observer countries namely, China, Japan, South Korea, and Timor Leste.

"The National Police Chief hopes that the draft declaration in an effort to deal with TIP, terrorism, and arms smuggling can be agreed upon by the ministers in the 17th AMMTC," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Monday, August 21.

This hope is because AMMTC activities are said to be a sad moment to make an agreement regarding the handling of serious crime issues.

Moreover, the perpetrators of crime continue to develop their modes so that all actions run according to plan.

"It is the right momentum in achieving concrete in an effort to create a safe ASEAN area through increasing cooperation in transnational crime management," said Ramadhan.

For information, the 17th AMMTC activity will be held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on 19 to 23 August 2023.

In this activity, the National Police and the countries that participated will discuss 10 transnational crime issues.

Meanwhile, issues that will be discussed include terrorism, cyber clemency, arms smuggling, wildlife trade and illegal timber.

Then, criminal acts of drug trafficking, money collection, international economic crimes, sea piracy, human smuggling and criminal acts of trafficking in persons or TIP.
