The Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) Ready To Face New Challenges Of Law No. 17 Of 2023 On Health

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) again held a National Working Meeting (Rakernas) and the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT), which was held by the Central Management (PP IAI) in collaboration with the local Regional Management (PD IAI).

This event took place in Solo, Central Java, from August 22 to 26, 2023, attended by various prominent figures in the health sector, such as Muhadjir Effendy (Minister of Coordinator for PMK), Lucia Riska Andalucia (Dirjen Farmalkes), Arianti Anaya (Dirjen Nakes), Gandjar Pranowo (Governor of Central Java), Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Mayor of Solo), and Etik Suryani (Regent of Sukoharjo).

The National Working Meeting which was held on August 23, 2023, is a valuable opportunity for the Central and Regional Management to have a dialogue and plan for the future of IAI, following the dynamics of the role of professional organizations in the new era that follows Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health.

"Although this law opens the door for other pharmacist professional organizations, IAI still supports collaboration in improving the quality of pharmaceutical services and carrying out important roles in improving health in Indonesia," explained PP IAI General Chair Noffendri Roestam, from a release received by VOI, Saturday afternoon.

IAI, along with other professional organizations, has sought to influence the discussion of the Omnibus Law Health Law. However, as a legal organization, IAI is ready to face new challenges in implementing Law No. 17 of 2023 on Health. If provisions are found that can hinder effective pharmaceutical practices, IAI will seek constitutionally to correct them.

During this activity, the Director General of Health and the Director General of Health and the Director General of Health will discuss the implications of Law No. 17 of 2023 concerning Health on the role of pharmacists and pharmaceutical practices. The Secretary General of PP IAI, Lilik Yusuf Indrajaya, emphasized the need to develop organizational regulations that support members in carrying out their duties as health workers.

PIT which runs from 24 to 26 August 2023 will present 47 franchises, 8 workshops, and 16 oral presentations, as well as exhibitions from various institutions, industry and government. This is the first face-to-face meeting after several virtual years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the number of PIT participants always exceeds the target, with 1,250 pharmacists expected to attend this year's event.

With the theme "Synergizing Global Innovations: Empowering Pharmacy for Sustainable Global Health Solution," IAI aims to strengthen the role of pharmacists in dynamic health services, education, and health development, in line with changes in the global health service paradigm.

Ardiyansyah, Chair of the National Working Committee and PIT 2023, stated that changes in the global health context require pharmacists to adapt to increasing health spending, aging populations, and changes in health technology.

"Currently, public awareness of disease prevention is becoming more important than treatment," Ardiyansyah added.

PIT IAI 2023 will also be enlivened with the Gala Dinner themed 'Romantic Dinner PIT IAI With Abata Voice Orchestra,' which will feature various regional cultures and fashion shows from national designers, describing the diversity of Indonesian culture.
