The General Election Commission (KPU) has determined as many as 674 candidates for the DPD legislative candidate (caleg) in the list of candidates (DCS) for the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"Regarding the DPD, when we announce it in DCS, the total is 674 DPD candidates spread across 38 provinces," said KPU member Idham Holik in a press conference reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 18.

Idham detailed that initially the number of candidates for the DPD RI candidates who asked for access to the Candidate Information System (Silon) was 1,030 people. Then, the candidate who participated in the submission of support was 865 people.

"The number of candidates meeting the support requirements is 701. Yes, of course, this number is less because in the past there were 811 who met the support requirements," he said.

Of the total 701 candidates for DPD who meet the requirements, continued Idham, there were 683 people who registered.

"Furthermore, of the 683 candidates who registered, in the past, administrative verification, which met the requirements (MS) was 113 people, for which BMS (has not met the requirements) 568 people, for which TMS (did not meet the requirements) two people," he explained.

Meanwhile, at the final verification stage, there were 675 candidates for MS and eight candidates for TMS. However, because one person resigned, said Idham, the total DCS DPD RI was 674 people.

"In the DCS draft, we will announce it tomorrow, a total of 674 with details of 540 men and 134 women," said Idham.

West Java is the province with the most set candidates for the DPD RI in DCS, which is 54 people. Followed by Aceh as many as 30 people and Riau as many as 29 people.

"The few provinces for DPD candidates (are) North Sulawesi as many as eight people," he explained.

He said the names of the candidates for the DPD RI who were included in the DCS would be announced on 19 23 August 2023. In this regard, the public can observe and provide input on these names on 1928 August 2023.
