BKKBN: Ideal Age Married 25-Year-Old Man And 21-Year-Old Woman

Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo stated that the ideal age of marriage for men is 25 years, while women are 21 years old.

"The ideal marriage is for 21 years old women and 25 years old men, this is the BKKBN campaign so that the family is mature," said Hasto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

He explained that BKKBN has an electronic application ready to get married and ready to get pregnant (elsimil) which can be a solution to prepare prospective brides (catin) to understand reproductive health to reduce divorce rates in Indonesia.

"We are aware that divorce is increasing, for that we start from a bit upstream, namely with a program before marriage, where the BKKBN launches an electronic application ready to get married and ready to get pregnant (elsimil), three months before marriage must be given comprehensive guidance, including guidance on reproductive health planning," he said.

Hasto also stated that BKKBN always collaborates across sectors to campaign for the community not to marry at the age of children.

"The marriage of the child's age will cause the couple to be unprepared, which in the end will lead to divorce. Now one of the biggest causes of divorce is due to a small, prolonged conflict, the majority. This shows that husbands cannot understand the shortcomings of their wives, and vice versa, so that the conflict is prolonged, finally divorce occurs," he said.

He emphasized the importance of bride and groom (catin) to participate in special initiativeal programs organized by the BKKBN, and has collaborated with religious affairs offices (KUA) in each region.

"We anticipate through the program ofiplinary, catin, and marriage age maturity, we hope that so that his family will become a strong family, have good resilience," he said.

In addition to the elsimil application, he also explained that BKKBN has a Bina Keluarga Balita (BKB) program and a great class of parents who provide education to paints about children's nutrition so as not to be born stunting (failed growth).

"We benefit from the digitalization era, and we can do it virtually, so that great classes of parents can be massive and mass, which aims to provide education to them about nutrition so that children are not born stunting," he said.

President Joko Widodo during a speech at the 2023 MPR Annual Session also appreciated the reduction in stunting in Indonesia.

"We have succeeded in reducing the stunting rate to 21.6 percent in 2022," said President Joko during a speech at the MPR RI Annual Session and the 2023 DPR RI Joint Session and DPD RI in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Hasto is also optimistic that the 14 percent stunting target can be achieved with all the collaborative efforts that have been carried out so far.

The reduction in stunting in the last year was quite significant because 2.8 decreased, from 24.8 percent to 21.6 percent. We are optimistic that by the end of this year it will reach 18 percent, so that by the end of 2024 it can reach 14 percent," said Hasto.
