Indonesian Air Force Alerts Aircraft For TMC And Forest And Land Fires

PEKANBARU - Commander of Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base Marsma TNI Mohammad Nurdin said Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base continues to provide aircraft to support the implementation of Weather Modification Technology (TMC) operations to reduce hotspots and cool down at forest and land fires (karhutla).

"The Indonesian Air Force helps cooling down the forest and land fires because it involves flying and work safety. This effort is also the commitment of the Indonesian Air Force in creating zero cases of accidents in the air," said Danlanud Mohammad Nurdin as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

To support the readiness of the aircraft, every day the crew from Squadron 4 works hard because they have to carry out two flight sorties so that they need high aircraft readiness so that this work goes well.

Therefore, with the hard work that has been done for five days, he advised the flight crew not to force themselves while on duty and always carry out everything according to the SOP.

"That the TMC mission has its own 'treatment' in the maintenance of the aircraft, so that the crew and pilots support each other and concentrate," he said.

Crew and pilots, said Nurdin, must carry out everything according to the correct procedures so that during the implementation of the mission at this Air Base everything goes well until the mission is complete.

First Lieutenant Tek Bhakti A JMU Air Squadron 4 on the TMC mission in Riau Province explained that the aircraft used for TMC operations needed more maintenance, because in this mission the aircraft was used to spread salt.

Because said Bhakti A, the salt that is distributed will cause corrosiveness on the plane so that to prevent officers from carrying out a thorough inspection of all out-of-plane surfaces, as well as washing every time TMC flights are completed.

On the fifth day of the TMC implementation, said First Lieutenant Tek Bhakti A, the Indonesian Air Force again affected 800 Kg of NaCl targeting forest and land fires in Pelalawan Regency, Indragiri Hilir Regency, and Kampar Regency.

"Until now, the operation of the TMC for the Air Task Force to prevent the Riau Provincial Forestry has reached 6.3 tons of NaCl and all of them were flown from Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base," he said.
