A Total Of 11 Thousand Babies In Central Jakarta Will Be Vaccinated To Prevent Rotavirus

JAKARTA - Around 11,000 babies in Central Jakarta are targeted to receive a rotavirus vaccine given by the Central Jakarta Health Sub-dept. (Sudinkes).

Rotavirus is a digestive tract infection that can cause sufferers to become affected by diarrhea to lack of fluids.

"For Central Jakarta, around 11,000 babies will be vaccinated. The target is in the Menteng area, there are 901 babies. This vaccine is mandatory with other vaccines," said Head of Central Jakarta Health Office, Rismasari to reporters, Tuesday, August 15.

Rismasari said the number of targets could increase due to the increase in population.

"That target can increase, because there will definitely be people coming or residents of the season. Well, what we have to target (is) that he gets immunization," he said.

Central Jakarta Mayor Dhany Sukma said the requirement for receiving this vaccine was for babies aged two to four months. Because, babies in the age range are susceptible to infection.

"Two to four months old because age is indeed a vulnerability. Very vulnerable, especially infections in the digestive tract," he said.

Dhany explained, if it is not handled, it is feared that it will cause unwanted things to the child.

"That's why we need to do this, to promote vaccinations in the form of droplets," he said.
