JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will investigate the change in the identity of the fugitive, Paulus Tannos. This will be investigated when the process will occur.

"We are currently investigating whether the name has changed after becoming a suspect or previously," Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur told reporters, Friday, August 11.

Asep said this search was important because he could have had a name from the start. "For example, there are stage names and national names," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the KPK News Section said there was an opportunity to ensnare anyone who helped the suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of an Electronic ID card or e-KTP, Paulus Tannos, to change his identity. They are considered to have thwarted the arrest of a fugitive for their actions.

"In terms of whether it is blocking the investigation process, in fact the investigative team cannot bring the person concerned even if it is in hand," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, August 10.

"Because the name is different, the nationality is different, of course the state authorities we visited and when making the arrests did not allow them to take them," he continued.

Previously, the KPK revealed that Paulus Tannos no longer holds Indonesian passports. He is now on the passport of a country in South Africa and has a different name.

As a reminder, the KPK is not only chasing Paulus Tannos. Currently, there are other fugitives being chased.

They are Kirana Kotama who has been wanted since 2017 for alleged bribery for filing a revision of the forest function in Riau Province in 2014 to the Ministry of Forestry.

Then, former candidate Harun Masiku is also still at large. The suspect who gave bribes to former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan is still unknown.
