SEMARANG - The Central Java Regional Police arrested four perpetrators who were members of a network of cell phone hackers by distributing Apk-type files through the Whatsapp application. Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Dwi Subagio, said the suspects were arrested in three different locations a few days ago. The suspects with the initials RJ and IW were arrested in Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra, while the suspects HAR and RD were each arrested in Garut, West Java and Jember, East Java. According to him, the gang communicated with each other using the Whatsapp group media. The suspects have different roles in action. The suspects RJ and IW played a role in ordering and distributing Apk files before hacking the victim's cell phone. "The two suspects who are father and son are the perpetrators of the hacking of the Central Java Police Chief's cell phone," he said during the release of the case in Semarang, Antara, Tuesday, August 8. Meanwhile, the HAR and RD suspects played a role in creating and providing bank account numbers to collect money from the crime from the hack. When in action, according to him, the perpetrator had a random phone number to distribute the Apk file. From the results of the police investigation, at least 48 people have been victims of hacking by the gang.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, Law Number 3 of 2011 concerning Fund Transfers, and Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection.
