CIMAHI - Acting (Pj) Mayor of Cimahi Dikdik Suratno Nugrahawan stated that the square in the area being renovated by the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) with a value of Rp. 14 billion is now almost complete. This 'new' Square is expected to be a tourist spot visited by many local residents. "We hope that with this new look, Cimahi Square can attract people's interest, so they don't have to go all the way to Bandung City. Especially in the Cimahi Square area, there are also many shopping centers," he said in Cimahi, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 3. The Square, which is located in the center of Cimahi City, coexists with the Cimahi Grand Mosque, which began to be repaired since early 2023 using a budget from the West Java Provincial Government. With a new look that according to him is more representative, it can attract visitors. So that shopping centers around the Cimahi square are also boosted from the economic side. "We hope that the economic climate will develop well. Visitors are expected to use it to shop at shopping centers or shopping centers that are abundant there," said Dikdik. Dikdik said, after completion, his party will discuss the use and arrangement of the Cimahi Square, the article when it is completed, what must be done is how to maintain the results of this development so that the community can really enjoy it. According to him, there are several plans for structuring, including the location of street vendors (PKL) who previously often sell in the area. "God willing, we will protect it, this asset will be maintained. Later we will discuss what to do, how to use the square, including shops around it," he said. Head of the Cimahi City Housing and Settlement Areas (DPKP), Endang, added that the progress of the Cimahi Alum-alun revitalization, which is the full cost of the West Java Provincial Government, is already more than 90 percent. "The progress is around 90 percent, the contract is until August 7, 2023. So there is still time to finish," he said. In this renovation, Cimahi Square will be equipped with playing entrances, West Plaza, East Plaza, fountains, traves and monuments, playgrounds, service areas, basement access, basement stairs, Taman Blumbak, Plaza Masjid to drop areas. Endang explained, with this completeness, Cimahi Square has the concept of "Heritage Entertainment and Religious Space" which aims to support Cimahi City as a city with historical and military nuances. "The character of the "site" is an active square where people gather and play children and blend with the Cimahi Grand Mosque so that it becomes the basis for determining the concept," he said. The renovation of Cimahi Square, which will be completed soon, received an enthusiastic response from Cimahi residents, such as Deden (37) who assessed that the condition of the square is now better and neater. However, according to Deden, his current condition feels arid because the existence of trees that were previously thick like banyans which are characteristic of the square in general, has been cut down. "It's better and neater, it's just that the conditions are more arid, and during the day it will definitely be very hot," he said. However, he hopes that the entire community can maintain cleanliness and order in the newly renovated square area. "It must be guarded, don't destroy it. Don't make it dirty, don't let it scribble. There can be street vendors, but they must be arranged," said Deden. Another resident, Anggia (27), also appreciated this square design which was more organized. But unfortunately one of the icons from the place is the words 'Cimahi Square' which feels less thick. As a result of being too sleek, he said, it would cause the writing to be invisible, therefore it would be better if the letters in the article were bigger and thicker.

"Because the position is a bit deeper, yes, then there is a tree, so it is likely closed because the writing is also'soft' like that. Maybe it's better to be bigger and thicker so that it can be seen from afar," he said.
