Cak Imin Enters Ganjar's Vice Presidential Exchange, Gerindra: We With PKB Are Still Familiar And Trust Each Other

JAKARTA - Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani said talks with PKB were still intensive.

This statement was made by Muzani regarding the inclusion of the name of the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin in the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) market accompanying the presidential candidate (candidate) PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Ganjar Pranowo.

"Our talks with PKB to this day are still intensive, friendly, warm, still trusting, and respecting each other, whether the conversation between Gerindra and PKB or the PKB conversation with Gerindra," said Muzani when met at the DPP Office of the Crescent Star Party (PBB), Jakarta, Monday 24 July.

The conversation, continued Muzani, was the discussion of the two parties to build political cooperation in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

Muzani said Cak Imin held the most important position to accompany the General Chairperson (Ketum) of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto. He admitted that he was not worried that PKB would change course.

"God willing, it will not (change course) because our relationship with PKB personally is good, institutional is good, the organization is good, among the general chairman, secretary general, and each personnel is also quite good," he said.

Previously, PDIP DPP Chair Puan Maharani said there were already five names as candidates for vice president for Ganjar Pranowo.

"Now it has narrowed five names, one of which is Cak Imin," said Puan after attending the Peak of the 25th PKB Birthday Celebration (Harlah) at Manahan Stadium Solo, Central Java, Sunday, July 23.

Previously, the Gerindra Party and PKB joined the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) and brought Prabowo Subianto as a candidate for president.

Meanwhile, Ganjar Pranowo is a candidate for presidential candidate promoted by PDIP and PPP.

Based on the schedule set by the General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total DPR seats or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament, so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR or pairs of candidates being promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
