KPK Has Not Received A Copy Of The Release Verdict Of Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still waiting for a copy of the decision on the release of the inactive Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng in the corruption case for the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 church. They need to file an appeal.

"We hope to receive a copy of the decision soon," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Monday, July 24.

Ali said this request had been submitted through the One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP) of the Corruption Court at the Makassar District Court (PN). The public prosecutor (JPU) is said to be chasing time so that copies must be received by the anti-corruption commission immediately.

"The decision is really needed by the prosecutor's team as material to immediately declare an appeal and prepare a memorandum of cassation within a period of time as stated by the Criminal Procedure Code," he said.

The Makassar District Court (PN) panel of judges acquitted the inactive Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng today, Monday, July 17. However, the considerations were not read out as generally.

Previously, Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng was officially detained by the KPK after being forcibly picked up. He became a suspect in alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency, Papua.

Apart from Eltinus, there were two other suspects named by the KPK but have not been detained. They are the Head of the Welfare Section of the Mimika Regional Secretariat who is the official commitment maker (PPK) Marthen Sawy and the Director of PT Waringin Megah (WM), Teguh Anggara.

In this case, the KPK suspects that there was a discrepancy, including the period of work when the church was built and the lack of work volume even though payments had been made. As a result, the state lost up to Rp21.6 billion from the contract value of Rp46 billion.

Various arrangements were allegedly made by Eltinus. One of them directly appointed PT Waringin Megah, led by Teguh Anggara.

From this appointment, it is suspected that there was an agreement to provide a fee of 10 percent, of which 7 percent was for Eltinus and 3 percent was Teguh.

In addition, it is suspected that there was a subcontractor from another company, namely PT Kuala Persada Papua Nusantara (KPPN) who worked without a contract agreement. Eltinus said that the KPK also received around Rp4.4 billion in this case.
