Sandiaga Uno: I Have Good Chemistry With Ganjar

JAKARTA - Chairman of the United Development Party Election Winning Body Sandiaga Uno said that between himself and the future presidential candidate from the PDI-P Ganjar Pranowo had good chemistry.

"We have good chemistry and this week we have met three times," said Sandiaga Uno to the media crew at the house of former Bogor Regent Rachmat Yasin, Bogor Regency, West Java, quoted from Antara, Saturday, July 22.

This statement was made by Sandiaga Uno in response to the possibility that he would become a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.

Even though he feels he has a good match, Sandiaga reminded that the decision of the presidential candidate pair and vice presidential candidate will be decided by the leaders of political parties.

"Hopefully this will be a challenge for us to bring better development and bring prosperity to the people of Indonesia," said Sandi.

When asked about their intense meeting, Sandiaga said that there was a meeting between himself and Ganjar related to Sandiaga's function as minister, as well as Ganjar as Governor of Central Java.

"These are all qodarullah, who arranged the above. However, this one (meeting in Bogor) is planned," he said.

Previously, Sandiaga Uno expressed optimism about his candidacy as a candidate to accompany the presidential candidate promoted by PDIP Ganjar Pranowo.

"I have broken the way of pessimism. So far, I have always been optimistic and realistic that the choice (vice-presidential) by political parties is the best choice for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (National Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia)," Sandiaga said during a visit to Ponorogo Regency from Saturday, July 15 to Sunday, July 16.

Although there has been no official decision, political communication has been carried out so far, either through each supporting political party or personally between Sandiaga and Ganjar.

In accordance with the RI KPU schedule, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates will start from 19 October to 25 November 2023.

Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu) regulates that pairs of presidential/vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in elections that meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in support from the Indonesian House of Representatives. Candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election, with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
