Using Beer Bottles Hitting French Caucasians In Shi-Shi Bar, Australian Foreigners Named As Suspects

BADUNG - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Kuta Sector Police has named Australian foreign national Jason Barletta (36) as a suspect in the crime of molestation against a French foreigner. Head of the Badung Police Public Relations Section, Iptu Ketut Sudana, said that acts of persecution of French foreigner Maxime Christian Claude Serres (37) occurred at Shi-Shi Bar, Pettenget Beach Street, Kerobokan Kelod, North Kuta, Badung, Bali. The incident occurred when the MCCS victim and her female friend were enjoying music on the second floor, Thursday, July 14 at around 04.30 WITA. "While dancing, the victim was visited by the perpetrator. A man chatted with him, then headed to the corner of another room," Sudana said in Badung, Antara, Wednesday, July 19. According to Sudana's statement, the two foreigners did not know each other. However, a few moments later, Jason came to the victim, then suddenly hit the victim using a green beer bottle four times towards the victim's head, precisely the forehead. "As a result of this incident, the victim suffered three wounds on the left forehead and had to be sewn eight stitches," said Sudana. After the incident, the victim, who lives in the Seminyak area, Kuta, reported the incident to the North Kuta Sector Police. The Opsnal Criminal Investigation Team of the North Kuta Police followed up on the report. Then secured the perpetrator on Jalan Batu Bolong, Canggu that same day. Until now, he said, it was not yet known what the motive for the foreigners from the land of Kangaroo was to commit a criminal act of persecution.

For his actions, Jason was charged with Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code regarding persecution. The perpetrator is now being held at the North Kuta Police Detention Center.
