BENGKULU - The Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has appointed the Director of PT Bahana Krida Nusantara (BKN) with the initials SU as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the Bengkulu Hajj Dormitory revitalization and development project for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

"It is true that today (17 July) the Bengkulu Attorney General's Office has appointed the President Director of PT Bahana Krida Nusantara with the initials SU as the implementing contractor for the activity as a suspect in the alleged corruption in the revitalization of the Bengkulu Hajj Dormitory," Head of the Bengkulu Special Crime Investigation Section (Pidsus) Bengkulu Attorney General's Office, Danang Prasetyo in Bengkulu City, Monday, July 17, confiscated by Antara.

He said the suspect SU was currently being held at the Bengkulu Police Headquarters Detention Center (Mapolda) for the next 20 days.

"Previously, the suspect had good faith by entrusting money to the investigative team and this would certainly be a consideration during the prosecution because the deposit of money did not immediately erase the crime," explained Danang.

Meanwhile, SU's attorney, Dino Sihombing, confirmed the detention of the suspect.

"Yes, that's right, SU was detained today, his position is director and detained for being involved in alleged corruption," he said.

Some time ago, the contractor broke his contract in the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Hajj dormitory in 2020, PT Bahana Krida Nusantara, which entrusted Rp450 million to the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office.

The Rp450 million is a difference in the realization of physical development before the contractor breaks the contract with the money that has been paid.

"We are still calculating the state losses, but from PT Bahana there is good faith in entrusting this money, we accept it," he said.

He emphasized that the investigative team will continue to investigate and deposit the money does not mean that it will eliminate the criminal acts of corruption that have occurred.

For temporary estimation, state losses related to the corruption case of the Hajj hostel project in 2020 reached Rp1.7 billion.

In the investigation of the Hajj dormitory revitalization project, it focuses on incorrectities when the contract is terminated, which has problems related to termination of the contract in the work by the first contractor, namely PT Bahana Krida Nusantara. This is because the advance and guarantee of implementation money worth IDR 3.8 billion which should have been returned by the Indonesian Insurance Service (Jasindo) and PT Bahana Krida Nusantara are suspected to have not been returned.

It is known, in 2020 the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Bengkulu Province distributed funds amounting to Rp38 billion for the revitalization and development of the Bengkulu Hajj Dormitory.
