2 Robbery Specialists Who Often Take Action In Jakarta Arrested By Police

The police arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves with the initials MY (21) and MS (29) in Tambora, West Jakarta and Cipondoh, Tangerang City.

"MY from Jasinga, Bogor, was arrested on Wednesday (12/7) at around 14.20 WIB on Jalan Kalianyar V, Kalianyar, Tambora and MS from Boyolali, Central Java also on the same day, at 23.00 WIB, a Cipondoh contract, Tangerang City, Banten," said Tambora Police Chief, Kompol Putra Pratama, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 15.

MY perpetrators, he continued, based on the results of the examination, had committed theft in Tambora three times and sold the stolen goods on Facebook social media.

"MY perpetrator has stolen Honda Vario motorcycles three times in Tambora and he has sold the two stolen motorbikes to collectors," he said.

Putra said that the three motorcycles that MY had stolen were all Honda Vario with the first crime scene (TKP) in Gang Kancil, Tanah Sereal.

The second crime scene is on Jalan Jembatan Besi II Tambora and the third TKP on Jalan Kalianyar V Tambora.

The target motorbike, continued Putra, was stolen by MY perpetrators using the duplicate key he made.

MY is a single actor, he is a specialist in Honda Vario motorcycle theft. MY perpetrators first prepare a Honda Vario fake key. The target is motorbikes parked carelessly," he said.

One trafficker was arrested by the Tambora Police, but no evidence was found in the form of a motorcycle.

MS's collector bought a motorbike from MY in May 2023, a blue Honda Vario for IDR 6 million. However, in June, the motorbike disappeared around Jagakarsa, South Jakarta," said Putra.

Because the missing motorbike was a stolen motorbike, continued Putra, so MS did not dare to report the loss to the local police station.

"Only one motorbike was confiscated," said Putra.

For his actions, MY alias Yoga (21) can be charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning the crime of theft with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

Then, MS alias Ahmad (29) can be charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning criminal acts of detention with the threat of a sentence of four years in prison.

He said that motorcycles that are widely used by the public today are generally not equipped with good security features, so they are very easy to steal.

"Residents should add a double key and when parking in the parking lot should not be parked on public roads or alleys whose designation is not for motorbike parking," he said.
