Ridwan Kamil Is Considered Potential To Be Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Researcher Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) Saidiman Ahmad assessed that West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has the potential to become a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election. He is considered to have a mass base, especially in West Java.

"The Golkar Party base is somewhat different from the PDIP base and Ganjar base. From that side, political cooperation is very potential to be built," Saidiman told reporters, Wednesday, July 12.

It didn't stop there, Ridwan Kamil was also considered to have something in common with President Joko Widodo. One of them, he was first popular because of his performance before joining the Golkar Party.

Like Jokowi, Saidiman said, Ridwan came from professionals. "The political power of RK is in his performance. He is not any cadre of the party before," he said.

Finally, RK is also considered to have a development vision like President Jokowi. Thus, he is considered potential to be paired with Ganjar because he is believed to be able to continue the current work of the government.

Saidiman also highlighted President Jokowi's intimacy with Ridwan Kamil during a working visit to West Java. According to him, political communication between the two could occur.

Moreover, Jokowi and Ridwan Kamil had a car after a visit to Cihapit Market.

"If PDIP, including Jokowi, builds communication with Ridwan Kamil, I think it is very reasonable," he said.

"Then (if, red) it is considered to be an alternative figure to become Ganjar's vice president, it is very logical," concluded Saidiman.
