Member Of Commission III DPR: There Is A Desire Form Of Law In It To Supervise Police, Prosecutors And Justices

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR Nasir Djamil proposed the unification of supervisors of law enforcement agencies, such as the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, to the judiciary under one roof.

"Well, we actually want to supervise the police, who oversee the prosecutor's office, who oversees the judiciary is one roof," said Nasir Djamil after the presentation of the survey results entitled "Public Evaluation of the Performance of Law Enforcement and Taxation Institutions" virtually, monitored from Jakarta, Sunday, July 2, confiscated by Antara.

Thus, said Nasir, supervision will be integrated with law enforcement agencies.

For Nasir, this supervision is needed to bring good integrity to the police, prosecutors, and in the judiciary.

"That's what we used to do, but then it was stopped at Commission III of the DPR," said Nasir.

Nasir considered that the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and the Prosecutor's Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (Komjak) were not ideal supervisors for the National Police and the Attorney General's Office.

Unlike the two institutions, the Judicial Commission (KY) which oversees the judiciary has been regulated by the constitution, precisely in Article 24B paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution.

"There is a desire to form a law in which someone oversees the police, prosecutors, and oversees the judiciary," said Nasir.

Until now, Nasir said that supervision of the police and the prosecutor's office could not be carried out properly. Nevertheless, he is grateful that the two institutions already have great awareness to improve their image by enforcing the law, controlling the apparatus, and giving the best to the community.

Previously, the Main Researcher for Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi explained that the level of public trust in the National Police had recovered since the case that befell the former Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Pol. Ferdy Sambo and now reaches 76.4 percent.

In the future, said Burhanuddin, the public hopes that the National Police will further improve their performance and professionalism, including in protecting and providing a sense of security to the community and be fair in enforcing the law.

This result is known by Indicators after conducting a survey in the range of 20-24 June 2023, placing 1,220 respondents from all provinces. Respondents are determined assuming a simple random sampling method, with a confidence level of 95 percent and a margin of error of 2.9 percent.
