DPRD Calls Flat Capacity In Jakarta Unable To Meet Residents' Residential Needs

JAKARTA - Member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Deserves Nainggolan assessing that the capacity of simple rented flats (rusunawa) owned by the DKI Provincial Government does not meet the housing needs of residents in the capital city.

This can be seen from the presence of residents who still live in inappropriate places, such as under toll roads and riverbanks.

"The flats built by the government are very feasible. But the capacity of our flats has not been able to meet the real needs of the community, in addition to other policies," said Pantas at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, June 26.

According to Pantas, the DKI Provincial Government must increase the construction of flats to organize residential areas into habitable. The addition of this rusunawa unit, said Pantas, will be intended for residents who still inhabit illegal buildings.

"What needs to be done is to accelerate the construction of flats. Don't leave them there (toll roads and riverbanks). But, as long as we are not able to provide habitable flats, what can be done now is an appeal," he said.

On the other hand, Pantas views that the addition of apartment units in the capital city can also support the expansion of green open space (RTH) which is still less than normal capacity.

Where, residents who live along the river can be relocated. Thus, their former place of residence can be used for river normalization.

"The restoration of spatial planning in Jakarta needs to be considered. The mandate of the open space law is 30 percent green. In fact, DKI Jakarta is no more than 30 percent. This must be restored," said Pantas.

"De facto, it is necessary to provide habitable houses for our brothers and sisters who still live in inappropriate places and that can be integrated into spatial problems in the DKI area," he added.
