A Couple Of Middle-aged Perpetrators Of Pickpockets A Number Of Cellphones At PRJ, Police Chief: The Case Is Handled By The Central Jakarta Police

JAKARTA - Visitors to the Jakarta Fair or Jakarta Raya Week at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, were surprised by the pickpocket action allegedly carried out by a middle-aged pair of perpetrators on Friday night, June 23.

The perpetrator was caught stealing a cellphone by the victim and there was a commotion between them. This incident made other visitors excited.

A man who was a pickpocket victim also found several cellphones in the female perpetrator's bag.

Other visitors who saw and were curious about the pickpocket's actions immediately approached the scene. They gathered and detained the perpetrators.

One of the visitors recorded the action in an amateur video which later went viral on social media. No security officers were seen in the video.

The female perpetrator tried to escape when the visitors and the victim were careless. However, his actions were seen by other visitors. He was finally secured by visitors and handed over to security officers.

"In this viral video, a man in black initially refused to be named a cellphone thief, but after being searched, it turned out that many cellphones were found from a woman in black," said the narration in the video.

Kemayoran Police Chief, Kompol Ardiansyah, confirmed the crime incident in the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran area. However, the handling of this case was handed over to the Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"The handling of this case was carried out by the Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit, please confirm with them," said Kompol Ardiansyah when contacted by VOI on Saturday, June 24.

Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Hady Siagian, said that he had not received the report.

"We will check, I have not received a report," he said.
