MARTAPORE - The Investigating Team of the District Attorney's Office (Kejari) of East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra searched the local Bawaslu office in the context of investigating a case of alleged corruption in the misuse of 2019 Pilkada grant funds.

Head of Intelligence Section of the East OKU Kejari Ahmad Arjansyah Akbar accompanied by Head of the Special Crimes Section of Patar Daniel Panggabean said the search was carried out based on an investigation warrant from the Head of the East Ulu Ogan Komering District Attorney Number: 026.21/Fd.2/05/2023 dated May 22, 2023.

This was carried out as a process of investigating cases of alleged corruption in the misuse of Bawaslu grants in East OKU Regency for the 2019 fiscal year from the local government amounting to Rp. 16.5 billion.

Grant funds based on the Grant Agreement Script (NPHD) number: 2/Mou/l/2019 and Number: 01/mou/bawaslu-Prov.SS. 12/X/2019 dated October 23, 2019.

The grant funds are budgeted to finance the activities of conducting supervision of the stages of the 2020 and 2021 East OKU District Regent and Deputy Regent Elections.

He explained that the investigation was carried out on the management and use of grant funds which were allegedly not in accordance with the provisions so that they could potentially cause state losses.

"The amount of state losses is still in the process of being investigated," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

In this case, his party has examined 20 witnesses, ranging from the chairman of the East OKU Bawaslu to other members.

Including about 100 documents confiscated by his party from the search at the East OKU Bawaslu Office which was brought to the local prosecutor's office for further investigation.

He emphasized that in handling this case, the East OKU Kejari would immediately identify a suspect if there were indications of state losses.
