Regarding The Revision Of The TNI Law, Lemhanas: Civilian And Military, Strengthen Democratic Consolidation

JAKARTA - Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) Andi Widjajanto said the revision of the TNI Law was an effort to strengthen the consolidation of democracy.

"Civil and military relations in Indonesia, consolidation of democracy. How the revision of the TNI Law is directed to strengthen democratic consolidation," Andi said at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, June 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Andi, currently Lemhannas is studying the initial structural study of the revision of the TNI Law which includes a strategic environment, changes in threat character, and technology.

"If there is a change, there needs to be a revision. If there is no change, the revision will wait if there is a significant change. That's all," said Andi.

Previously, on Thursday, May 25, Andi revealed that the revision of the TNI Law was Lemhannas' effort to evaluate the implementation of the law after being in effect for almost 20 years. This is because many changes have occurred for approximately 20 years since the TNI Law was passed in 2004.

"We at Lemhannas yesterday started a study on the revision of the directed TNI Law to evaluate how the TNI Law was implemented for (almost) 20 years. Are there structural, fundamental, fundamental things that we must anticipate. Are there any technological adoptions that we must do, "explained Andi.

He said that there have been several changes that have occurred in the last two decades, including geopolitical situations, especially strong inter-state relations, technological advances, and the use of terminology or new terms in national defense policies.

"From a geopolitical perspective, we really see that there is one country becoming a rising power and one country is challenging hegemony, the United States is being challenged by China. We are also seeing technological developments. In the last three years, a combination of cyber, digital, and space," he said.

He explained that technological advances certainly affect the way a country defends itself, military doctrine, and how to fight.

"This technological surge will produce a revolution of military defense, which will produce the Krida Yudha Revolution, which will make our way of fighting five years, 10 years in the future; completely different from the previous perspective," said Andi.
