Gerindra Asks Jokowi's Opinion Regarding Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate

Deputy Chairperson of Gerindra Habiburokhman said his party was communicating with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the candidate for vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Prabowo Subianto.

"We communicated with Pak Jokowi as one of our friends, Mr. Prabowo's best friend about who the vice presidential candidate is right for Mr. Prabowo? Is Erick Thohir or other names?" Habiburokhman said at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Wednesday.

The name of the Minister of SOEs and the General Chair of PSSI Erick Thohir is also considered by the Vice President Prabowo. However, he did not know in more detail about it.

"I don't know if there is Mr. Erick Thohir or just Mr. Erick Thohir. But regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates, of course Mr. Prabowo, Mr. Muhaimin, Mr. Jokowi will certainly discuss it," he said.

According to him, communication or asking for input from Jokowi is a natural thing because Jokowi has a position as Prabowo's friend to be asked for an opinion regarding the vice presidential candidate.

"My friend said, friend. Yes, we are currently in a coalition with the same commitment, how in the future Indonesia can be stronger to have a national leader. Those who dare to defend the interests of the nation and state," explained Habiburokhman.

He considered it a good thing if Prabowo's vice presidential candidate was supported by President Jokowi.

"Yes, it would be better if it was also supported by Pak Jokowi," he said.
