The General Election Commission (KPU) appealed to political parties participating in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) to immediately open a special account for campaign funds (RKDK). This was conveyed by the Head of the Technical Division of the KPU Implementation, Idham Holik, in a public test of the draft KPU Regulation (PKPU) in Jakarta on Saturday, May 27.

Idham Holik emphasized the importance of making RKDK as a step for the use of campaign funds that are transparent and in accordance with applicable regulations. According to Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, all donations in the form of money must be placed on the RKDK before being used for campaign activities.

The KPU is ready to facilitate political parties in making RKDK through banks that are State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and private. Idham revealed that the KPU has facilitated many political parties in opening bank accounts, both in state-owned banks and private banks.

In addition, the creation of the RKDK also aims to facilitate the supervision of election participants' funding and prevent fraud. Idham explained that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) will monitor the use of campaign funds.

To date, only nine political parties have opened the RKDK for the 2024 General Election, including the Golkar Party, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the Indonesian Revised Guard Party (Garuda), and the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Selain itu, Partai Demokrat, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Partai Perindo, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), dan Partai Ummat juga telah memiliki RKDK di bank nasional.

The KPU reminded other political parties to immediately open the RKDK in accordance with applicable regulations to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of campaign funds. Consultations related to the PKPU draft will still be carried out before being stipulated as an official regulation by the KPU.
