JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono is now separating officials who are in charge of procuring goods and services. This effort was made to prevent corrupt practices that occurred during the infrastructure development process.

"Before 2020 it was all in the hands of one director general. As for the road (for example, ed) yes only under the Director General of Highways... So if you want to tease, you only tease one person," Basuki told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, May 25.

"Well, now since the procurement of goods and services, I have separated," he continued.

With this separation, Basuki said that the Director General of Highways is now only in charge of planning. "If you have planned then it will be handed over to the Director General of Construction for auction, to get a service provider," he said.

After getting the winner of the auction, the results were returned to the Bina Marga officials for work and supervision.

"Well, this is one way to separate power for the procurement of goods and services not in a directorate general," said Basuki.

Next, Basuki also created an Internal Compliance Directorate unit at the Directorate General of Highways and other units. Thus, supervision of all lines can be carried out to prevent fraudulent practices.

"We also formed halls in all technical directorate generals," he explained.

"Theirst line of defense is at the hall, if that's possible. It will only go to the Directorate General and if it has been signed it will only be to the inspectorate general. So God willing, with tiered supervision that is not only attached but functional, we can detect it early on. about irregularities, "said Basuki.

Basuki admitted that he did not close his eyes with various temptations against his subordinates. "It's normal for people to want to tender to win," he concluded.
