TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Immigration managed to secure 17 foreign nationals (WNA) in active surveillance operations for foreigners. The operation was carried out as a follow-up to public reports regarding the activities of foreigners who disturb public order.

Muhammad Tito Andrianto, Head of the TPI Special Class I Immigration Office Soekarno Hatta, said the operation was held on Friday, May 19. He added that dozens of foreigners were arrested, including 16 Nigerian citizens and 1 Ghanaian citizen.

He explained that the incident started with complaints from the public through social and electronic media. On that basis, his party followed up on the report.

"We immediately dispatched members to carry out surveillance operations for foreigners in two apartments in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta," Tito told reporters at the Soekarno Hatta Airport Immigration Office, Wednesday, May 24.

"The rest are 3 (three) Nigerian citizens who use a Visit Stay Permit but it is suspected that their whereabouts and activities while in Indonesia are not in accordance with their residence permits, so they are suspected of violating Article 122 letter a," he concluded.
