SUKABUMI - Natural Resources Section (SDA) of the Regional Secretariat (Setda) of Sukabumi Regency estimates that the pile of sampag that closes Talanca Beach in Loji Village, Simpenan District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, will reach 200 tons.

"The waste volume is our rough count, but it is possible that the weight can exceed our expectations," said Head of SDA Section of the Sukabumi Regional Secretariat, Prasetyo, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.

According to Prastyo, the calculation of the volume of waste that accumulates on Talanca Beach is from the results of a mathematical calculation where the waste spread reaches 2 km with an average pile height of one meter of waste, so a figure of 200 tons appears.

However, as is known, the garbage that accumulates on Talanca Beach comes from various types ranging from fabrics, clothes, tree branches, plastics, pieces of wood, iron, plastic bottles/glasses and others of course weighing differently.

In fact, it is possible that the volume of waste on Talanca Beach will continue to increase because the garbage carried by the river currents until the estuary is then carried away by the ocean currents/waves to the beach every day is ensured to always exist.

However, in handling this waste, the most important thing is not the calculation of the volume, but the right solution so that the waste at Talanca Beach can be handled quickly.

Handling this waste is indeed difficult because it has to involve various regional apparatus, there are special tools, community and community involvement until rules/policies and even sanctions are made.

Then, in handling this waste, it is not only a discourse, but must move while finding a good solution for short to long-term handling, because the volume of waste will continue to increase every day.

Therefore, his party held a coordination meeting (rakor) for handling Talanca Beach waste on Tuesday, to accelerate the management and resolution of waste problems. The focus of the discussion is the solution to the procurement of special equipment.

"The handling of waste must be rushed, especially since Talanca Beach is included in the Unesco Global Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu area. For this reason, the Sukabumi Regency Government continues to try to find the best and fastest way," he added.

On the other hand, Prasetyo said that actually the main task of dealing with waste is in the Sukabumi Regency Environmental Service (DLH). However, it must be realized together if the handling is only charged to one regional apparatus, it is likely that it will not be able to.

Therefore, handling this waste must involve all elements, especially the community because it has a very important role, such as residents who live along the river who are not used to throwing garbage into the river.

Furthermore, the involvement of other parties is like the existence of a waste bank community that must be re-functioned. In Sukabumi Regency, there are 60 waste banks spread across a number of villages.

Thus, this waste is not only a problem, but can be used as a business field such as recycling to be used as an economic-valued product. In the future, it is hoped that Talanca Beach can return to its tourist destination location.
