JAKARTA - United States (US) President Joe Biden on Sunday announced the latest package of US$375 million (around Rp5.60 trillion) military aid for Ukraine.

In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, Biden said that the aid packages included ammunition, artillery, armored vehicles, and training of Ukrainian pilots.

"Together with all G7 member countries, we support Ukraine. And I promise, we are not going anywhere," Biden said, in an official transcript published on the White House website quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 21.

The G7 is the group of seven countries and the largest economies in the world consisting of the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, and the European Union.

Biden also announced several joint US efforts with his allies and partners in Ukraine's pilot-pilot training to operate fourth-generation fighters such as the F-16.

Zelenskyy has been calling on allies in the West for months to supply advanced fighter jets to support Ukraine's defense against Russia's invasion. However, Ukraine has not yet been committed to obtaining F-16 fighter jets.

During the meeting, Biden and Zelenskyy also discussed ongoing efforts to further strengthen Ukraine's air defenses as Russia continues to launch missile and drone attacks in Ukrainian cities.

In addition, President Biden stressed support from the US and other G7 countries for Ukraine's reconstruction, including efforts to rebuild energy infrastructure in the country.

"The United States will continue to help Ukraine fight, recover and rebuild (its country). And we also support your efforts to achieve fair peace... Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, something that cannot be negotiated and must be achieved," Biden said.
