DPR Becomes An Agencies With The Best Budget Performance 2022, Puan Maharani Reveals Her Secrets

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) is ranked in the top 5 ministries/institutions that have the Best Budget Performance in 2022. The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, also ensures that she is ready to bring the Indonesian House of Representatives to become an institution that prioritizes transparency and accountability.

The award was given by the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu). The Indonesian House of Representatives received an award as one of the agencies with the Best Budget Performance in 2022 for the medium ceiling category.

In addition to the DPR, award winners for the same category are the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

"Thank you for the award given by the Ministry of Finance. We are grateful for this achievement. The award will be a whip for the DPR RI to continue to improve and be even better for the welfare of the people," said Puan, Thursday, May 18.

The award from the Ministry of Finance was given at the 2023 Budget Implementation National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) which was held at the Dhanapala Ballroom, Ministry of Finance Complex, Wednesday, May 17. The award charter was given directly by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.

According to Puan Maharani, this award is proof that the Indonesian House of Representatives has worked transparently, accountably, modernly and openly. These principles are a vision and mission that Puan brought from the start as Chair of the DPR.

"And I ensure that the DPR RI consistently implements the principles of professional, transparent, and accountable financial governance," said the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

Puan added that the DPR RI will always improve performance with accountable financial governance. That way, the DPR will provide the greatest benefit for the interests of the Indonesian people.

"Because the DPR RI wants to maintain people's trust and realize public expectations. With good openness and accountability, we are optimistic that the DPR will provide the best results for the people," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture said that a quality budget was a step for the DPR to achieve the target, including the goal of making the DPR an open modern parliament. Through transparency, said Puan, the DPR also wants to be 'early' by the community.

"It is not uncommon for budget policies in the DPR to become public attention. And we will not feel hot if we receive the spotlight from the public," said Bung Karno's grandson.

"We use this as input. And the DPR RI always considers all public aspirations because the DPR continues to strive to maintain people's trust," continued Puan.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance's award to K/L yesterday was carried out with the theme 'Bulanja Berkualitas for Indonesian Economic Transformation'. With this award, Sri Mulyani hopes that K/L can explain more to the public regarding the budget being managed and the results for state goals.

"People are in the era of social media and open information. If you have good spending quality, but you are not able to explain to the public, the public also doesn't click because the public is filled with various information whose versions are different," said Sri Mulyani.

For information, since being inaugurated as Chairman of the DPR on October 1, 2019, Puan has committed to making the institution a 'people's house'. He has a vision and mission to make the DPR an open, transparent, and accountable modern parliament.

"I and the newly appointed representatives of the DPR have a shared commitment so that during our leadership, we will promote the spirit of mutual cooperation, make the DPR a modern, open and aspirational parliament and try to make the DPR a real people's home," said Puan Maharani in her speech after being inaugurated as Chair of the DPR RI.
