JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives has opened a Trial Period V for the 2022-2023 Session Year. When opening the session, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, mentioned the acts of violence that have been carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua in recent times.

The opening of the DPR's V Session Period for the 2022-2023 Session Year will be held at the Plenary Meeting held at Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 16. This plenary session was chaired directly by Puan.

"The establishment of a law by the DPR RI and the Government is an effort to meet national legal needs in order to maintain public order, improve people's welfare and carry out national development," said Puan.

"Such as the rampant cases of violence committed by minors, the problem of cases of violence against Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), legal protection for health workers (Nakes), the process of appointing ASN teachers for Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) and preparing for the implementation of Hajj in 1444 H/2023 AD," he explained.

On the other hand, Puan stated that the DPR had scheduled a series of bilateral, regional and international activities in parliamentary diplomacy efforts. The bilateral meetings will be held through visits from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland as well as several parliaments from Sarawak, Romania, Armenia, and Croatia.

Meanwhile, the regional and international activities that will be carried out are the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Manama, Bahrain on 16-17 May 2023 and the 6th Session of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs (AIPACODD) in Bogor, West Java on 29 May - 1 June 2023.

Puan also mentioned the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit which was just held last week where Indonesia acted as the host. ASEAN parliaments also became the highest conference participants in Southeast Asia.
