Puan Alludes To Violence That CONTINUES To Be Carried Out By KKB In Papua When Opening The Session Period

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives has opened a Trial Period V for the 2022-2023 Session Year. When opening the session, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, mentioned the acts of violence that have been carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua in recent times.

The opening of the DPR's V Session Period for the 2022-2023 Session Year will be held at the Plenary Meeting held at Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 16. This plenary session was chaired directly by Puan.

Starting the opening of the DPR session, Puan welcomed all members of the DPR RI who had conducted a recess in each electoral district (Dapil) since April 14 to listen to the aspirations of the people, as well as to socialize the functions of the DPR RI such as the supervisory function, budget function, legislative and diplomatic functions.

"On behalf of the leadership of the DPR RI, we wish you Happy Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri to all members of the DPR RI and the audience. Sorry to be born and inner. May Allah SWT, God Almighty, always give His grace to the Indonesian people," said Puan.

Furthermore, Puan expressed her appreciation to the government, TNI, Polri and social workers who have worked hard to ensure the smooth homecoming of Lebaran this year. For their slick performance, people are said to be able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in their respective regions safely, comfortably and happily.

During the DPR's V Session, Puan explained that the main agenda of the House of Representatives' Council Apparatus (AKD) was to discuss Macroeconomic Policy and the Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) for the State Budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year.

APBN Fiscal Year 2024, is the last APBN from the period of President Joko Widodo's administration and Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin. Therefore, the priority of the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is directed at completing priority programs and strategic programs that will strengthen the foundation in advancing Indonesia," explained Puan.

In addition to discussing the PPKF KEM, another very important agenda of the DPR is to supervise the process of preparing and implementing the 2024 General Election. According to Puan, the DPR will ensure that the implementation of the people's democratic party runs smoothly.

The 2024 General Election Stage has begun. The relevant DPR RI equipment will supervise the implementation of the 2024 General Election stage, thus ensuring that the 2024 General Election will take place in an advanced, honest and fair manner," said the first woman to serve as Chair of the DPR RI.

Regarding the implementation of the legislative function, the DPR RI together with the Government and the DPD RI, he said, would prioritize the completion of the discussion of nine Draft Laws (RUU) which are currently still at Level I Discussions. In addition, for other bills included in the Prolegnas for the 2023 priority bill.

The nine bills are Bill on Industrial Design, Bill on Health, Bill on Amendments to Law no. 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus (ASN), Bill on Civil Procedure Law, Bill on Second Amendment to Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics.

Furthermore, the Bill on the Fourth Amendment to Law no. 24 of 2003 concerning the Constitutional Court, Bill on New Energy and Renewable Energy, the Bill on Maternal and Child Welfare (KIA) and the Bill on Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Their Ecosystems.

"The establishment of a law by the DPR RI and the Government is an effort to meet national legal needs in order to maintain public order, improve people's welfare and carry out national development," said Puan.

"The DPR RI is committed to producing a law product that is in line with the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, has a strong sociological foundation, prioritizes national interests, and participates in opening space for public opinion participation," he added.

Furthermore, Puan gave her appreciation to the government in efforts to control inflation, prices and food availability during the Ramadan and Lebaran periods. Even though the increase in commodity prices still occurs, she said it was still within control and accessible to the public.

During this trial period, the DPR RI is said to have paid attention to a number of things, including extreme hot weather that occurred in parts of the world, including Indonesia. On that basis, the DPR and the Government are committed to taking anticipatory steps to minimize the impact of extreme weather.

Puan also mentioned the violence carried out by the KKB and asked the government to prepare a special strategy to overcome it.

"The acts of violence that continue to be carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua are also a concern of the DPR RI," said Puan.

"The government must be able to find the right solutions and strategies to overcome unsafe situations and actions that threaten civilians and even actions that have caused casualties, both from TNI soldiers and civilians," continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Regarding the supervisory function, according to Puan, the DPR AKD will focus on various problems that are of concern to the people. Puan detailed various problems that became the attention of the DPR.

"Such as the rampant cases of violence committed by minors, the problem of cases of violence against Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), legal protection for health workers (Nakes), the process of appointing ASN teachers for Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) and preparing for the implementation of Hajj in 1444 H/2023 AD," he explained.

On the other hand, Puan stated that the DPR had scheduled a series of bilateral, regional and international activities in parliamentary diplomacy efforts. The bilateral meetings will be held through visits from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland as well as several parliaments from Sarawak, Romania, Armenia, and Croatia.

Meanwhile, the regional and international activities that will be carried out are the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Manama, Bahrain on 16-17 May 2023 and the 6th Session of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs (AIPACODD) in Bogor, West Java on 29 May - 1 June 2023.

Puan also mentioned the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit which was just held last week where Indonesia acted as the host. ASEAN parliaments also became the highest conference participants in Southeast Asia.

At the ASEAN-AIPA Leaders' Interface Meeting, in Labuan Bajo on May 10, 2023, the Indonesian parliament has voiced and recommended various issues, including peace and humanity, economic growth, environmental conservation, including the protection of migrant workers," explained Puan.

"Through this diplomatic task, the DPR RI takes the responsibility to build a better world and build a humanist and social justice social, economic and political order," he continued.

Finally, Puan invited the Indonesian people to participate in the implementation of the tasks of the DPR RI. He also asked all members of the DPR RI to carry out their duties as well as possible during this trial.
