The police will temporarily close Jalan Parangtritis Bantul tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10. The closure is related to the carnival activities of a handicraft and cultural creative industry product entitled Bantul Inclusive Carnival (BIC).

Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police, Iptu I Nengah Jeffry Prana Widnyana, said the carnival with around 800 participants would be held on the Parangtritis Street route with a starting point from the ISI Yogyakarta Campus and ended up at the Bantul Gabusan Art Market (PSG).

"Because the carnival starts in front of the ISI Yogyakarta Campus, so the road that is closed is along Jalan Parangtritis starting from the Druwo intersection to the south to the Manding intersection," he said in Bantul, Tuesday, May 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the closure of the Parangtritis road, which is the route for parades of handicraft and cultural products, is planned to start at 13.00 to 16.00 WIB, after which it will reopen, because after that time the flow of traffic on Jalan Parangtritis will increase.

"The closure at the intersection of Druwo is implemented selectively because of the existence of hospitals and health centers, but buses or large cars are not allowed to enter during activities," he said.

He said that a number of roads leading to Parangtritis Street from Jalan Bantul were also closed, including the Niten Market intersection, Kasongan intersection and Cepit intersection. Then from Jalan Imogiri Barat which was closed by the intersection of three north of Ngoto and the Sudimoro intersection.

Meanwhile, from Jalan Bantul to Jalan Parangtritis, he said, it can pass through the intersection of four Klodran or the Gose intersection. Then from Jalan Imogiri Barat to Jalan Parangtritis can pass through the Jetis intersection.

His party appealed to motorists who want to pass Parangtritis Street, to pass through the alternative route of Jalan Bantul or Jalan Imogiri Barat.

"For routes to Yogyakarta from south to north, you can go through Simpang Manding, you can go directly to the west via Jalan Bantul or to the east via Jalan Imogiri Barat," he said.

Meanwhile, Bantul Police Chief AKBP Ihsan invited the Bantul community to make BIC activities a success, because through this activity, Bantul Regency in 2023 will register with UNESCO to enter the World Creative City Network (UCCN).

"Throughout Indonesia, there are six districts that compete towards the world's creative cities, one of which is Bantul. Let's succeed in the BIC event, and hope that Bantul Regency can qualify and be named a world creative city," he concluded.
