BANDARLAMPUNG - President Joko Widodo said that infrastructure improvement is the government's mandatory task not to go viral on social media.

"Regarding the damaged road infrastructure, it is not only here, but in several other provinces there are also many things that need central government assistance," said Jokowi during a review of the damaged road on Jalan Seputih Raman, Central Lampung, Friday.

He said that in providing services to the community, including regarding infrastructure, the government did not because it was based on going viral on social media.

"So it's not a viral or non-viral business on social media, it's not the duty of the central, provincial, district and city governments to provide services, including preparing good roads for the community," he said.

He continued that infrastructure, including roads, is crucial because it involves various crucial things for the community.

"The road concerns the mobility of goods and people. If the road infrastructure is damaged, the cost of logistics is high and the product cannot compete," he said.

He reiterated that the government's performance does not only rely on viral events on social media.

"So this is indeed the government's job, so it will be done as well as possible," he added.

Previously, it was known that President Jokowi had visited Lampung Province in order to ensure that the condition of the infrastructure reported was severely damaged in various regions.

The visit began with Natar Market, South Lampung Regency, a national road around the Sumatra Institute of Technology (Itra), a road to the Kota Baru area. Gajah City Street-Seputih Raman-Simpang Randu-Rumbia section.
