JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Omar Syarif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej denied the issue related to the figure of a minister's son who was involved in business and monopoly in prisons. "What I want to say is misleading information," said Eddy at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office, Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, May 2. This allegation emerged after actor Tio Pakusadewo mentioned that there were businesses and monopolies in prison involving ministerial children through edited video clips. The allegations that dragged Yamitema Laoly and his company PT Natur Palas Indonesia were conveyed by Twitter user @PartaiSocmed. "What Tio Pakusadewo meant at the end of this video was the Jeera Foundation with his company PT Natur Palas Indonesia which monopolizes the cooperative and canteen business in several large prisons, where Yasonna Laoly's son became Chairman and Co Founder," wrote @PartaiSocmed on his official Twitter account, as quoted by ANTARA. According to Eddy, there are many foundations that manage in prisons. Not only the Jeera Foundation, there are also the Maharani Foundation, the Al Islah Barokah Foundation and others. The Directorate General of Corrections is open to all foundations that wish to carry out partnerships in the form of cooperation, guidance with inmates, such as musical arts, painting arts and crafts. "When we will work together, there are procedures that must be passed," he said. Even so, Eddy assessed that the guidance carried out by the foundation actually helped the inmates so that they could be useful when returning to society. For this reason, he emphasized that there was no monopoly carried out by the Jeera Foundation. "Not only the three foundations that I mentioned, but many foundations are in partnership and coaching in the prison," he said. On the other hand, he saw that the information disseminated through social media was a complaint offense. Thus, the next effort will return to their respective legal subjects.
