JAKARTA - The National Police's Food Task Force monitors the stock and price conditions of basic commodities in a number of markets to anticipate scarcity and increase in selling prices after Eid 2023.

Head of the National Police's Food Task Force, Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, in his statement, said monitoring was carried out in a number of traditional markets in the areas of Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bekasi.

A number of traditional markets visited by the National Police's Food Task Force include the Mampang Prapatan Market, South Jakarta Great Lenteng Market, South Jakarta Sunday Market, East Jakarta Cijantung Market, East Jakarta Tanjung Lengkong Lot Market, West Jakarta Palmerah Market, Central Jakarta Downstream Dam Market, Central Jakarta Sluice Market, and Bekasi City Kranggan Market.

According to Whisnu, from the results of monitoring, it turns out that the availability of food in a number of traditional markets is sufficient, including relatively stable food prices.

"Based on these checks, the prices of basic commodities were monitored stable up to D+7 Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri and several basic commodities fell prices," said Whisnu as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 28.

He said the price of rice was between Rp. 0 thousand to Rp. 11,500 per kg for ordinary types and the price was in accordance with the highest retail price (HET) set by the government.

The price of red cayenne pepper is Rp. 48 thousand - Rp. 57 thousand per kg, the price of beef is Rp. 128,400 per kg or decreased from the previous price of Rp. 29 thousand per kg, the price of chicken eggs decreased by around 0.3 percent from the price before Eid 2023 of Rp. 29,500 per kg to Rp. 29,400 per kg.

Meanwhile, said Whisnu, the condition of buying and selling transactions in the market is not yet fully normal. There are still traders who have not returned from their homecoming and some stalls are closed.

"However, this condition does not disturb buyers because it is not yet crowded, so the availability or stock of basic commodities in traditional markets after Lebaran 2023 is monitored sufficient," said Whisnu.

During monitoring in markets starting from before Ramadan to before Lebaran 2023, Whisnu said the Food Task Force in the regions did not find any hoarding of staples in the field.

"Regional Food Task Force in the field did not find any hoarding of staples so that the post-width distribution process would not be disrupted," he said.
