PPP Already Has A Name, The 2024 Presidential Candidate Announced This Afternoon

JAKARTA - The United Development Party (PPP) will announce the names of the presidential candidates it will support in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. The announcement will be made by the Acting Chairman of PPP Muhammad Mardiono today.

"God willing, the Acting Chair will be announced later this afternoon," said PPP DPP chairman Achmad Baidowi or Awiek, when confirmed, Wednesday, April 26.

However, Awiek did not want to divulge the names of the presidential candidates that the PPP would support. He only asked the public to wait for an announcement from Mardiono this afternoon.

PPP held its 17th daily board meeting as well as a party assembly meeting which was held at the residence of Acting PPP Chairman Muhamad Mardiono in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Monday, April 24.

Mardiono said the PPP's presidential candidate would be announced after the national leadership meeting (rapimnas).

"The results are already there, but I will announce the final results in the National Rapporteurs later," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 25.

Even though he admitted that there had been a decision for the presidential candidate in that meeting, Mardiono was still reluctant to reveal it to the public. He said he would announce it today.

"Tomorrow we will announce it, after today's rapimnas decision. This final decision is the constitution for PPP which must be obeyed by all cadres in Indonesia, including representatives abroad," he said.
