Prosecutor Rejects Pledoi Dody Prawiranegara, Considers Involved In The Circulation Of Methamphetamine Belonging To Teddy Minahasa

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) rejected the memorandum of defense alias pledoi of the defendant Dody Prawiranegara in the case of selling methamphetamine belonging to Teddy Minahasa.

"We, the public prosecutor in this case, remain of the opinion as clearly stated in the letter of demand that we read out on March 27, 2023," said Prosecutor Arya Wicaksono while reading the replica or response to the pledoi at the West Jakarta District Court (PN), Wednesday, April 12, which was confiscated by Antara.

Prosecutors remain with Dody's demands involved in the circulation of methamphetamine as evidence from the Bukit Tinggi Police under control by the former West Sumatra Police Chief Teddy Minahasa.

The prosecutor also asked the judge to reject all the pledoi Dody presented at the previous trial.

"We ask His Excellency the Panel of Judges who examine and try this case to decide on the letter of demand that we read out on Monday, March 27, 2023," said the prosecutor.

In his pledoi, Dody admitted that he was afraid to reject Teddy's orders, who at that time was still the West Sumatra Police Chief.

This fear made Dody desperate to deliver methamphetamine which had been exchanged with laughter as a result of the disclosure of the case according to Teddy's orders.

"This happened because of my inability to overcome such great fear for the leadership who ordered me, namely Inspector General Teddy Minahasa," said Dody when reading the memorandum of defense or pledoi at the West Jakarta District Court, April 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

Dody felt sorry for following Teddy's orders which clearly violated the narcotics eradication law.

In his pledoi, Dody also admitted that he had never been involved as a meth courier while serving as a member of the National Police.

Instead, he claimed to have received many awards for disclosing criminal cases, especially drug trafficking while serving as a police officer.

With this incident, he felt tarnished and all the reputation he had built as a police officer was destroyed.

"This is enough to prove that I am willing to damage the best career and service that has been given by selling confiscated drugs?" he said.

Previously, Dody was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 2 billion.

"The defendant, Doddy Prawiranegara, has been sentenced to 20 years and a fine of two billion rupiah, subsidiary to 6 months in prison, minus the prison term," said the JPU team led by Iwan Ginting SH while reading the charges in the West Jakarta District Court courtroom, Monday, March 27.

Dody was charged with the sentence because he was found guilty of violating the provisions in the form of Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Juncto Narcotics Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

There are several things that burden and ease Doddy's sentence according to the prosecutor. One of the aggravating thing is that Doddy reduces the level of public trust in law enforcement because he is involved in drug cases.

Meanwhile, the mitigating one, namely Doddy, is considered to admit all his actions and be good in the trial.
