JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) Dr. Edi Hasibuan said the report of the former Director of Investigation for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Brigadier General Pol Endar Priantoro to the KPK Supervisory Board was an attempt to get to the truth.

"Brigjen Endar dared to complain to the KPK Supervisory Board to get the truth. He felt he was being treated arbitrarily," Edi said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 8.

Edi respects Endar's attitude in reporting KPK chairman Firli Bahuri to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) for his removal as KPK Investigation Director.

"Actually, this is not good. Why do the police report the police to the KPK? However, we respect Endar's attitude," he said.

The lecturer at Bhayangkara University in Jakarta said that Endar served at the Corruption Eradication Commission on the recommendation of the National Police Chief with orders that he must serve and have integrity while serving at the anti-corruption commission.

"When Endar entered the KPK, he also went through rigorous selection stages, followed the rules that apply at the KPK, and was transparent," he said.

Edi hopes that Endar's report to the KPK Supervisory Board will make matters clear about his dismissal.

"We hope the Dewas will immediately summon various parties. Is the dismissal according to regulations or because it has a high political element," he said.

He assessed that the National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo had previously sent a letter of recommendation to the KPK leadership not to return two high-ranking Polri officers at the KPK at once because this could weaken the KPK.

"Endar's termination could raise suspicion and wild perceptions among the public," he said.

He hopes that the KPK leaders need to show mutual respect and not just dismiss Polri officials assigned to the KPK.

"Moreover, so far we have seen that the performance and support of Polri personnel at the KPK has been quite good," he said.

Previously, the KPK returned Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto and Director of Investigation Endar Priantoro to the National Police.

However, the National Police Chief extended Endar's assignment. Meanwhile, Karyoto was withdrawn to the National Police Headquarters who was then assigned as the Metro Jaya Police Chief.

The KPK then removed Endar as Investigation Director so he reported KPK chairman Firli Bahuri to the KPK Supervisory Board.
