Lampung Police Seal Cafes Operating Until Late At Night

JAKARTA - The Lampung Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate sealed a cafe in Bandarlampung City that operated late at night in the month of Ramadan.

"We sealed the Ground cafe on Jalan Ks Tubun, Rawa Laut, because it was found open in Ramadan until late at night and the visitors consumed liquor at this cafe," said Director of Drug Investigation at the Lampung Police, Kombes Pol. Erlin Tangjaya, quoting Antara, Sunday.

He said that the sealing of the cafe was by installing a police line at the entrance, this was done, because based on a circular from the local government, nightclubs had to close their businesses during Ramadan.

"The direction again, when members at the location were conducting raids in the early hours of Sunday (2/5), visitors were found consuming liquor," he said.

He also said that the raids carried out were not only at the Ground Cafe, but also carried out by the Lampung Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate team in a number of locations in Bandarlampung City.

"A number of nightlife from cafes and karaoke in Bandarlampung is still open, even though the government has banned it, we are conducting raids," he said.

Patrol members of the Lampung Police's Narcotics Ditres combed from the nightclub on Jalan Yos Sudarso, the local city to Jl. Ks Tubun where one cafe had violated the rules and was sealed.

"In the raid, we also conducted urine tests on cafe visitors to find out whether they were taking drugs or not," he said.
