Cemetery Raperda Approved, Walkot Supports Additional TPU Locations In Bandung

Mayor (Walkot) of Bandung Yana Mulyana stated that the approval of the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) of Bandung City regarding Public Cemetery Services by the DPRD will improve public services in the City of Kembang.

"With the approval of the Raperda, I hope to improve public services in the city of Bandung, especially regarding public funeral services in Bandung," said Yana in Bandung, West Java, Friday, March 31, as reported by Antara.

This, said Yana, is because all residents need a Cemetery (TPU), but along with the increasing population growth and settlements, there is a shortage of land availability for funeral needs.

Due to the increasing population and settlement growth, the lack of land, plus the ecological carrying capacity of public cemeteries, according to Yana, funeral matters must be comprehensive and sustainable managed.

"Therefore, improving public funeral services must be carried out by expanding and increasing the location of the TPU while continuing to improve funeral facilities and infrastructure," he said.

The Raperda itself was approved by the Bandung City DPRD at the DPRD Plenary Session at the Bandung City DPRD Building, Thursday, March 30. The approval was marked by a joint signing of the Raperda by the Mayor of Bandung and the Bandung City DPRD.

TPU is the need for every citizen, therefore in order to realize the optimization of public funeral services it needs to be supported by making policies in the form of regional legal products that are in accordance with the vision and mission and regional needs.

"This regulation is very much needed as a guideline in providing the best service to citizens, especially for those who have died," said Yana.

After the approval of the Raperda regarding the Cemetery at the Bandung City DPRD, then the determination of the Raperda to become the Regional Regulation that has been approved will be submitted to the Mayor of Bandung to proceed to the next process to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
