CIANJUR - The Puncak-Cianjur route, West Java, to be precise on the Sate Sinta route, Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, was temporarily closed due to another landslide following heavy rains accompanied by heavy rains.

Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for Cianjur Regency, Rudi Wibowo, said that for the time being the route to Cipanas or vice versa to Cianjur, was temporarily closed to prevent landslides from continuing to spread.

"Vehicles from both lanes are temporarily closed to avoid casualties when the avalanche expands and threatens the road base under and above the cliff. A team from the PUPR Ministry is still on duty at the location," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 20.

Rudi explained, the cliffs at the top and bottom of the Sate Sinta route were still being handled by officers.

"We hope that handling can be carried out quickly and the rain will stop soon so that the cliffs will no longer slide. However, for the time being, the route will be closed until the situation is declared safe by officers," he said.

His party also received reports that a number of emergency shelters and residents' houses in Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, were damaged by floods and landslides. However, his party could not confirm how many emergency shelters were damaged by the flood.

"We have just received a report that there are residents' houses in Cijedil Village that were heavily damaged by the landslide. Meanwhile, the emergency housing damaged by the floods in the same area is still being recorded by joint officers," he said.
