Not Paying CSR For Road Repairs, ESDM Bans Transport Operations For 7 Coal Companies In Jambi

JAMBI - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) imposed sanctions on seven coal mining companies in Jambi Province for not wanting to pay Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Jambi Province, Sudirman said, CSR funds are intended to repair national roads damaged by coal transportation in Jambi.

The seven coal mining companies are PT Kirana Graha Buana, PT Terminalindo Idaman Permal, PT Tamarona Mas Internasional, PT Marga Perkasa, PT Anugerah Alam Andalas Andalan, PT Bumi Borneo Inti and PT Kasongan Mining Mills.

The coal transportation of the seven companies, he said, may not operate until a certain time.

Sudirman further said that the total budget for CSR funds that had just been collected was IDR 3.4 billion from IDR 3.9 billion agreed upon by 41 coal mining companies in Jambi to repair national roads damaged by coal transportation.

"Because the seven coal mining companies did not distribute CSR funds, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources gave sanctions not to operate coal transportation within these companies," said Sudirman as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 17.

The sanction for a letter of termination of operation for a coal mining company in Jambi has been effective since its issuance on March 13, 2023, by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"The point is the temporary suspension of the coal sales account related to the distribution of contribution commitments (to) Jambi, because he did not make a contribution until the specified time, the Director General of Minerals and Coal (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) has issued a temporary suspension of his coal sales account," said Sudirman.

Regarding the time of suspension given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, he said, the letter did not state how long it would take, what is certain is that these companies must pay their CSR contributions first.

"What is clear is that coal mining companies in Jambi must pay first and then the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will reconsider," said Jambi Provincial Secretary Sudirman.
