Prosecutor Immediately Executes Bharada Richard Eliezer To Jail

JAKARTA - The public prosecutor is preparing steps to execute the South Jakarta District Court's decision against Bharada Richard Eliezer who was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison.

"Preparations are being made for execution in the near future," said Head of South Jakarta District Attorney Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 22.

Syarief said the preparations made by his institution included administrative completeness regarding the place of detention and the judge's decision as a complete document in executing the court's decision.

"We are preparing the administration, including the judge's decision," he said.

Apart from that, Syarief said, his party also coordinated with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) for the execution process of Bharada Eliezer considering his status as a justice collaborator (JC).

"Also coordination with the LPSK because Eliezer was determined by the judge as JC," he said.

The South Jakarta District Court has handed down a sentence of one year and six months to Richard Eliezer at the trial decision which was read out on Wednesday, 14 February 2023. This decision has permanent legal force or inrah after the defendant and the public prosecutor stated that they accepted the verdict of the panel of judges.

Eliezer also underwent a trial at the National Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) on Wednesday (22/2) and was found guilty of violating ethics. The KKEP trial stated that Eliezer's actions were disgraceful act because he shot his co-worker using a Polri service firearm that was not in accordance with the provisions.

Bharada Eliezer was given the sanction of apologizing to the Ethics Trial Commission and the National Police leadership, as well as an administrative sanction in the form of one year's demotion. The verdict was made after the decision was signed and sanctions were implemented after Eliezer served his sentence.

Upon returning to the National Police, Bharada Eliezer did not serve at Brimob, but was transferred to the National Police Headquarters Service (Yanma) as a form of the demotion sanction he received.
