BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that three areas, namely Sabang City, Banda Aceh, and the northern part of Aceh Besar District, have entered the dry season with maximum temperatures of up to 32°C.

"The three areas have entered the dry season on February 2nd, the peak is predicted to occur in June," said the BMKG Forecaster for the Sultan Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh Meteorological Station, Arum Adha Larasati, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 22.

Arum said, for the eastern and southern parts of Aceh Besar District and the western part of Pidie Regency, it is estimated that they will enter the dry season in May, the third trimester.

Then, the northern part of Pidie, northern Pidie Jaya, and northern part of Bireuen, as well as eastern Bireuen, northern North Aceh, Lhokseumawe City, and northern East Aceh are predicted to enter the dry season in May II.

Meanwhile, in the southwest region of Aceh including West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, Nagan Raya, South Aceh, Singkil Aceh, Simeulue, Southeast Aceh, Subulussalam will not be hit by a dry season.

"For the west-south region of Aceh, there is no dry season," she said.

The BMKG urges the people of Aceh to remain alert to potential hydrometeorological disasters that are entering the dry season such as strong winds or forest/land fires.

"We also appeal to people who are active outdoors to also bring sufficient reserves of drinking water so they don't become dehydrated," said Arum.
