OKU - The supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra is currently running low. Several health centers no longer have stock, so the vaccination process for residents has to be temporarily postponed.

"Overall, the vaccine stock in OKU Regency is at most around 1,000 more doses," said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the OKU District Health Office, Andi Prapto in Baturaja, reported by Antara, Monday, February 20.

The remaining vaccine stocks in several health centers in OKU Regency are for primary and booster doses for stages one and two. It is predicted that in the next few days the remaining supplies will run out soon, so the administration of vaccines for the public will be delayed again.

His party has submitted an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to the Provincial Government of South Sumatra to meet the needs of the people of OKU Regency.

"We don't know yet when the proposed addition that we have made since two days ago will be realized because we are still waiting for instructions from the South Sumatra Provincial Government," he said.

According to Andi, overall the interest of the OKU community to be vaccinated is quite high, even for the administration of the first dose booster vaccine which initially had low interest, now many are willing to be vaccinated.

This is in line with the government's requirement to travel outside the city, which requires people to receive at least the third dose of the booster vaccine.

In addition, the OKU community is also starting to grow in awareness about the importance of being vaccinated up to the third stage in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

"Especially when the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, so many people want primary and booster vaccines as a condition for returning homecoming for Eid," he said.

Based on data from the OKU Health Office, the total coverage for the first phase of vaccination has so far reached 82.8 percent or 215,952 people have been vaccinated from 310,983 targets.

Then, the second dose is 69.4 percent, the booster vaccine is 24.8 percent and the advanced or fourth booster vaccine for health workers is around 50 percent.
