JOGJAKARTA - Joko Agus Setyono was appointed by President Jokowi as the new Regional Secretary of DKI. The appointment will later make Joko Agus Setyono accompany Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono. Joko Agus Setyono was appointed by Jokowi where it has been regulated by law that the regional secretary, on the advice of the Governor, is directly appointed by the president.

This appointment was stated in Jokowi's Presidential Decree number 13/TPA of 2023 which was stipulated on February 13, 2023. A man named Joko Agus Setyono was born in Kebumen on December 11, 1968. He comes from the village of Sawangan, Kuwarasan, Kebumen, Central Java. He is an alumnus of the Gombong Senior High School class of 1987.

Joko Agus Setyono began his prestigious career when he assumed the position of Head of BPK Representative for the Riau Islands Province (Kepri). Prior to being appointed by Jokowi, Joko Agus Setyono served as Representative Head of the Bali Provincial Audit Board (BPK) since 2022.

Joko Agus Setyono has also received 10 Years of Satyalancana Karya Satya. Overall what has been achieved by Joko Agus Setyono is the Head of BPK Representative for West Kalimantan Province, Head of BPK Representative Secretariat for East Java Province (East Java), Head of Sub Auditorate for DKI Jakarta Sub Auditorate I BPK RI, and Head of Section I.C.3.2 Main State Finance Auditorate I .

A number of Jokowi's reasons also confirmed that Joko Agus Setyono deserved to be appointed regional secretary. One of them is that Jokowi has known him for a long time and he is a person who can communicate well with anyone.

Previously, Joko Agus Setyono's position was filled by Marullah Matali. But he was removed and promoted. Marullah's new position is Deputy Governor for Culture and Tourism.

Marullah's position was then filled by the Assistant for People's Welfare at the Regional Secretariat of DKI Uus Kuswanto who was appointed as Acting Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government opened the selection for positions in December 2022 and in the process, the Governor suggested 3 names to Jokowi, one of which was Joko Agus Setyono.
