Balikpapan City Government Hopes There Will Be Budget Support As An IKN Prosperator

JAKARTA - The City Government of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan Province hopes that there will be proportional and significant budget support once the area is designated as the capital of the archipelago.

"Especially in improving the quality and capacity of human resources, as well as infrastructure and other infrastructure," said Balikpapan City Secretary Muhaimin in Balikpapan, quoted from Antara, Saturday, February 11.

If this is not the case, continued Muhaimin, Balikpapan will only be the city that bears the burden of IKN.

On February 10, 2023, the City of Balikpapan celebrates its 126th anniversary. Secretary of the City of Muhaimin hopes that Balikpapan will continue to be conducive.

"More importantly, we are ready to become the main buffer for IKN," said Muhaimin.

He hopes that residents of Balikpapan City can be actively involved in the construction of IKN considering that the development is now accelerated because the target is to complete in 2023.

"Because we don't want to be spectators at home when IKN starts running in 2024," said Muhaimin.

The Mayor of Balikpapan, Rahmad Mas, invited his citizens to work together and collaborate in development in accordance with the tagline of the 126th Anniversary of the City.

"The government invites all people to work together and collaborate to build the city of Balikpapan," said the mayor after the City Anniversary Ceremony at Merdeka Square, Friday.

On that occasion, the Balikpapan City Government invited various elements of society. They include the heads of RT, LPM, religious leaders, community leaders to businessmen.

"We will take this period as momentum after two years of vacuum, yes, of course, hopefully this year the pandemic will begin to slow down," said the mayor.

"We also pray and recommend that we continue to process, take care of our health so that we avoid things that we don't want."

On that occasion, he also hoped that his citizens would be more prosperous and happy. "The happiness of this city is the happiness of all residents of Balikpapan City," he said.
