The Compreng Ship Sank In Cilacap, 1 Person Has Not Been Found

CILACAP - The Compreng boat used to catch fish in Cilacap waters sank when the waves hit it. 3 crew members survived, 1 crew member died while 1 other crew member is still being searched.

Head of Public Relations of the Cilacap Police Iptu Gatot Tri Hartanto said at around 08.00 WIB when the crew members finished pulling the nets, the ship was hit by a wave causing the ship to capsize on Monday, 06 February 2023.

"On Monday 6 February 2023 at around 08.00 WIT, after pulling the net, the ship was hit by a wave and caused the ship to capsize. Miun died and was tied with a rope but released and drowned. Meanwhile, the victim on behalf of Mandra at the time of the incident immediately drowned," said Gatot through his written statement on Wednesday, February 8.

According to the Head of the Cilacap Search and Rescue Office, Adah Sudarsa as the SMC (SAR Mission Coordinator), after receiving information that the compreng GPRJ ship had an accident, his party immediately dispatched a rescue team to the coordinates of the incident location.

Based on the information, on Monday, February 6 at around 03.00 WIB the ship went to sea from the PPSC port to catch fish in Cilacap waters. However, the ship did not return to the PPSC port until 23.00 WIB, the ship should have returned in the afternoon.

Receiving this information the Joint SAR Team went straight to the coordinates of the incident location and asked the PPSC Syahbandar to broadcast to ships passing through the area.

"At 10.00 WIB the joint SAR team arrived at the scene and immediately carried out a search. At 10.45 WIB while carrying out the search it was seen that 3 people were floating on the wreckage of the ship. Seeing this the joint SAR team immediately approached and evacuated the three victims in a safe condition Then the victim was taken to the PPSC Port," he said.

"At 12.05 WIB the victim managed to land at the PPSC Port and was immediately rushed to the Cilacap Hospital for further treatment. Three survivors were known to be Daryono (45), Misnadi (42), and Lung (52)," said Adah.

Then at around 15.46 WIB, the SAR Team found the victim on behalf of Miun in dead condition. The body was then taken to Cilacap Hospital.

"The victim was found dead at 15.47 WIB, at 17.35 WIB the joint SAR team arrived at PPSC Pier III and was then taken to the Hospital," he said.

The search for victim Mandra is still being carried out. The SAR elements involved included Basarnas KPP Cilacap, Polairud Cilacap, South Cilacap Police, HNSI, Arnavat SAR, fisherman volunteers, and the surrounding community.
