Prisoners at Salemba Detention Center Rehabilitated Because Most Of Them Consume Methamphetamine

JAKARTA - Head of Central Jakarta Class 1 Detention Center (Karutan) Fauzi Harahap confirmed that there are a large number of prison inmates (WBP) or former drug addict prisoners in Central Jakarta Class 1 Detention Center. For this reason, his party carries out medical rehabilitation to restore the quality of life for the inmates.

"The information we got from the exposure of the medical team that handled the assessment and screening, (most of the convicts consumed) crystal methamphetamine," said Fauzi Harahap to reporters, Tuesday, February 7.

The large number of former drug addicts who take part in medical rehabilitation aims to restore their quality of life if they return to society.

"So what was the quality of life before rehab and what was it like after it was finished. We use instruments from WHO, there are several social approaches, so that the rehabilitation will be even more perfect," he said.

Previously it was reported, as many as 220 prisoners in Central Jakarta Class 1 Detention Center or Salemba Detention Center, underwent drug rehabilitation. This rehabilitation activity is carried out every year.

"This medical rehabilitation, the goal is to improve the health capabilities of our convicts (inmates) who have used drugs. Where consumption has psychological and physical effects, so there are teams from various fields here to restore their abilities, their health," said Head of Central Jakarta Class 1 Detention Center Fauzi Harahap to VOI, Tuesday, February 7.
